Srinagar: People in both Jammu and Kashmir defied the curfew imposed by the authorities.
However, despite curfew, clashes in Srinagar claimed one more life and left more than 50 injured.
In Srinagar, security forces opened fire on protestors gathered in the Dal Gate area. There were clashes in Budgam and Kupwara and scores were injured as police tried to control the stone-pelting crowd.
Meanwhile, the Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti is set to meet the Governor's panel for a fourth time to hammer out a consensus.
The separatists including Mirwaiz Umar farooq, Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Yasin Malik were under house arrest, ahead of Monday's proposed march to the historic Lal Chowk.
And the Valley's mainstream politicians tried to distance themselves from the new formula of temporary land handover to Amarnath shrine board.
“Congress is with the SASB in Jammu. They are also displaying trishul and talwar and going around harrassing Muslims. Even the National conference is doing that. We have told our party that anyone who wants to go has to resign from the party. If they want to toe the SASB line, they have to resign first,” says PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti.
Meanwhile, in Jammu, the Shri Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti has called for a complete chakka jam on Monday and to extend their bandh till August 31.
While authorities have come down heavily on the separatists, the latter are equally determined to carry on Monday's proposed march to Lal Chowk.
Certainly Monday may see a confrontation between the Administration and the Hurriyat Conference.
