New Delhi: Trouble is expected at the rally of Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday with the Delhi Police writing to him saying that his rally from Jantar Mantar will not be allowed. The reason being given by the Delhi Police is that Parliament is still in session and prohibitory orders are in place.
However, Kejriwal and his organisation, India Against Corruption, have said that they will go ahead with their plan to gherao the residence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari.
Meanwhile, some differences have also emerged within the team. Key team member Kiran Bedi has expressed her displeasure over Kejriwal's plan to gherao the residence of Gadkari, for she feels that the team must only target the ruling Congress-led UPA.
Bedi has posted a tweet saying, "I fully support Arvind's call for the Jantar Mantar rally. While I feel we need to focus on the party in power, I respect his and others view to cover all!"
However, the displeasure of the team member appears to have no impact on Kejriwal. While claiming that Bedi is still on the board, Kejriwal has said that it is just a question of having different views.
Kejriwal said, "Kiran Bedi is very much with us…there could be two views on an issue. She has raised a valid issue."
He, however, added that no party was free of corruption. Pointing that there had been scams even during the tenure of the BJP, he said that the system won't change even if the BJP or the Samajwadi Party was in power.
Another team member, Kumar Vishwas, also spoke against the views expressed by Bedi, saying removing the Congress was not the solution.
He said, "Kiran Bedi will learn in future that removing Congress is not a solution. Corruption is a big thing and every party is involved."
Meanwhile, the differences within the team have given ammunition to the Congress to attack the members alleging that their intention is to malign the image of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the party.
Congress leader BK Hariprasad said, "They are trying to malign the image of the Prime Minister and the Congress party. Now it is clear that they had outsourced the Team Anna agitation which has failed and this attempt to tarnish the government will also fail."
Kejriwal and his team are protesting against the coal blocks allocation scam, saying that all political parties are involved in it. Kejriwal has also announced simultaneous gheraos at the houses of the Chief Ministers of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
