Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh says that there has been no anti-incumbency factor against his government and exudes confidence that Congress will return to power in the state.

Amarinder Singh has 17 people contesting against him in Patiala Town constituency including Shiromani Akali Dal's Surjit Singh.

In a chat with CNN-IBN's Jyoti Kamal, Amarinder Singh assures that the Congress party will be back and is hoping he wins his seat too.

Jyoti Kamal: Amarinder Singh says its going to be a record of sorts this time by breaking the anti-incumbency thing and coming back to power for the second time. What is it that he feels will enable the government back to power for the second time?

Captain Amarinder Singh: I think our government has performed exceedingly well. We have put Punjab on a development agenda and I think people want to continue seeing that development agenda. So I can emphatically tell you that by this time tomorrow that the Congress is heading for a win.

Jyoti Kamal: How many seats are you expecting?

Captain Amarinder Singh: We are expecting 65+ seats. I have always maintained 70 but I feel between 65 to 72.

Jyoti Kamal: There are also those who say an alternating government is good because you will become too arrogant if you come back to power for the second time. What do you have to say about that?

Captain Amarinder Singh: I think that can’t be anybody else buy Mr Badal Singh. I am the least arrogant of anybody and I have never been in this manner. And I think today it’s not the question of individuals. It’s a question of a government that has performed and that belongs to the political party. Whoever heads it doesn’t matter. We have set the agenda and I think the agenda will carry on.

Jyoti Kamal: So in a nutshell, you will be back.

Captain Amarinder Singh: The Congress party will certainly be back and I am hopefully winning my seat so I shall be back too.
