Cong meets to discuss Prez rule in UP

CNN-IBN

New Delhi: The Congress Working Committee (CWC) will meet on Monday after the Left said no to President’s rule in Uttar Pradesh.

Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M Karunidhi and Lok Janahshakti Party Leader Ram Vilas Paswan are expected to support Congress.

Despite hectic lobbying over the last 24 hours, Congress leaders still haven't managed to garner support from their Left allies, for dismissal of the UP government.

In fact, CPM General secretary Prakash Karat has accused them of misusing article 356.

The Congress hopes to get a report from the governor, asking for President's rule in UP, before Mulayam Singh Yadav proves his majority in the assembly on the 26th of this month.
