Nasarullahganj: Ten years ago, Sushma lost the swadeshi beti versus videshi bahu contest at Bellary against Sonia Gandhi. This time she doesn't have to bother about defeat. The Congress nominee's papers were rejected.
So, all that she is looking for is a record victory margin, surpassing the countrywide highest ever of 5.92 lakh. But there's no complacency. Every evening there's a BJP workers' conclave in Vidisha.
"When there is no opponent the workers can get complacent and the voters may not come out. These are the concerns and I'm addressing them," says she.
Sushma believes that she is destined to win, that supernatural forces are working for her.
"How is it possible that some one who has contested five elections, who has remained a minister in the state, who has got a family in politics could not deposit his A form and his brother could not deposit his affidavit? There is an unseen force behind it that wants history to be created," says she.
Even Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan is leaving no stone unturned for her. He has himself won five Parliamentary elections from Vidisha and has gifted this seat to the BJP leader. Along with Sushma, he too motivates the BJP workers.
Madhya Pradesh has an important role in the BJP scheme of things as far as the possibility of a future NDA government in the centre is concerned. Sushma along with Shivraj Singh Chauhan face the daunting task of improving upon the performance that has already peaked in 2004 and Sushma is going about performing this task with élan.
