At a book release, Panchayati Raj Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar said that things move only when Rahul gives his blessings to projects.
Rahul's rise in the Congress hierarchy is winning him new admirers and that includes even the brash Aiyar. Like many in the party, the Minister believes that projects take off only if they have Rahul baba's blessings.
“If he shows interest then we can surely get success. Otherwise this, too, will be an unsuccessful dream because I have faced difficulties despite the party being at the Centre. We need support from the top to get what we want,” Aiyar said.
So if Sonia backs Manmohan Singh, it does mean 7 Race Course Road wields real power. But it is Rahul who is really throwing up the future challenge.
Sonia and Rahul may frequently reiterate Singh as leader but obviously their party knows who is the real leader. So, obviously in the next elections, Rahul will be the key face.
