Cong to 'show'-off love for Gandhi

New Delhi: Gandhi is in and his party wants to make this a reason to celebrate.

Therefore, after Bollywood, it’s the turn of India's grand old party to remember Bapu.

“It’s been 100 years of his Satyagraha. It’s important to remind the world of that 9/11 which had a different message of love and peace,” says Congress leader, Anand Sharma.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi's idea has attracted various head of states, Nobel laureates, economists, freedom fighters and civil society activists who have decided to participate in a two-day mega jamboree in the Capital beginning January 29.

“Perhaps the collective wisdom of all those people will point the way the world should be moving towards,” says Sharma.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu will receive the Gandhi Peace Prize during the event, but Nelson Mandela is too frail to make the trip.

South Africa - the land where Satyagraha was born - is also remembering Bapu and a part of its official delegation is Mahatma's grand-daughter Ela Gandhi.
