Hyderabad: Actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi is facing a battle between two worlds - politics and films.
The Congress is creating a furore over Chiranjeevi using his onscreen presence to woo voters.
The latest complaint by the Congress to the Election Commission may prove to be a dampener for mega star Chiranjeevi's fans as the party wants the EC to bar private TV channels from screening Praja Rajyam Party chief's films.
Congress feels that the screening of films and even songs featuring the actor could influence the voters.
"If we want to give a small advertisement, we must give it to the screening committee appointed by the Election Commission. We must take the clearance. If it is like that then what about the pictures?" asks Andhra Finance Minister K Rosaiah.
But the Chiranjeevi is not worried and says, "Even if the films stop, how can they remove our image from the hearts."
Even as the Congress cites the films as breach of Modal Code of Conduct, a senior party leader and popular film maker Dasari Narayana Rao has released a film called Mesthri to take on Chiranjeevi's super hit Mutta Mesthri
The main character played by Rao himself takes a dig at Chiranjeevi and his party Praja Rajyam.
Though the latest Mesthri has not garnered as much public interest as Chiranjeevi's film, it definitely puts the spotlight on politicians' not walking their talk.
