Mumbai: A Congress corporator was shot dead by some unidentified assailants in the satellite city of Navi Mumbai on Monday.
Kale was shot when he was getting off a Maruti van near his office. Three rounds were fired and one bullet hit his head and the other his chest.
Anant Kale was killed in sector three of Airoli node at around 0900 hours, police said.
Kale represented the Airoli ward in the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation.
The corporator succumbed to injuries on way to a hospital in the nearby Mulund locality of Mumbai.
In November last year, NCP corporator Devidas Chougule was shot dead allegedly by gangsters from the Ravi Pujari gang at the behest of a local extortionist in the same area.
