New Delhi: Just when the furore over a forged sting operation conducted by a private television news channel purportedly exposing a teacher running a sex racket is cooling down, another fake sting operation has been busted.
They came to hunt me down, but they became the victims,” says Congress MP from Jharkhand, Rameshwar Oraon.
The Delhi police have arrested three men who tried to sting the MP. According to Oraon, he received a call from someone who was posing as personal assistant of Minister of Tribal Affairs.
The MP was allegedly offered five per cent of an 18 crore project. But an inquiry by the alert MP led to the arrest of three persons.
“After talking to minister's PA and OSD, I realised that I was being trapped,” says Oraon
The police have arrested Ratanjeet Gupta, Pankaj Gupta and Rajiv Patel in connection with the case. But the head of this gang Sanjay Tiwari is still absconding.
As for the MP, he expressed his displeasure over the way sting operations are being carried out.
“Those MP's who are corrupt should be exposed. But this should not be used to trap innocent people,” says Oraon.
According to the police, the arrested trio has conducted sting operations on several Members of Parliament. The police are also trying to investigate whether more people were involved in this racket.
