Chandigarh: In an IBN7 exclusive, a former DGP of jails in Punjab has alleged that major political parties in Punjab are involved in drug rackets. Former DGP of Jails Shashikant, in the Punjab-Haryana High Court, has made a statement alleging that ministers from major political parties, like the Akali Dal and the Congress in the state, are involved in drug rackets.
He has alleged that the profits generated are being used for election purposes. He has also alleged that the state police are hand in glove with these ministers and are helping them in running the business.
On the basis of a PIL filed, the High Court had asked for DGP Shashikant's assistance in the case. Meanwhile, the High Court has asked for a reply from the Punjab government over this allegation.
