New Delhi: The Congress is likely to release its fourth list of candidates on Thursday. The party is considering fielding Digvijaya Singh against Narendra Modi in Varanasi. Digvijaya has already told the Congress he is ready to contest against Modi.
But the fourth list that is likely to be announced may not list the Varanasi candidate.
Sources say that the list could be a short one, listing only 10 to 15 names.
The Congress is also likely to field former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh against BJP leader Arun Jaitley in Amritsar.
It could field Manish Tewari from Ludhiana, but there is still no clarity on P Chidambaram's candidature. The Finance Minister has indicated his keenness to sit in the Rajya Sabha and wants his son Karthi to contest the Lok Sabha elections.
