Congress-led UPA ahead in Maharashtra

Mumbai: Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) was ahead of the Bharatiya Janata Party-Shiv Sena alliance in Maharashtra as the early trends of the Lok Sabha started pouring in from the 48 constituencies in the state.

Congress and BJP candidates were leading in six seats each, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in four, Shiv Sena in one and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena in two in Maharashtra.

NCP's Sharad Pawar is leading in Madha over BJP's Subhash Deshmukh, while Sushilkumar Shinde (Congress) leading in Solapur.

Congress nominee Nilesh Rane is ahead in Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg over Sena's Suresh Prabhu.

While NCP nominee Sanjeev Naik is leading in Thane, MNS candidate Hemant Godse was ahead of his rivals in Nashik.
