Controversy even in death

THRISSUR: Controversy followed Sukumar Azhikode all through his life and in his death too. While his close friends here wanted his last rites to be held here, his relatives insisted on conducting the funeral  at his birth place in Kannur. The issue was resolved by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy who acceded to the wish of Azhikode’s kin after talks with all the concerned.

Chandy described him as one of the multi-faceted personalities of the state.  

Azhikode was born to the late Panankavil Damodaran and Kelothu Thattarathu Madhavi Amma on May 26, 1926. He was a bachelor.  His siblings are the late Damayanthi, Lakshmi, Gopalakrishnan, Padmini and Devadas.
