New Delhi: The public outcry is continuing over the murder of Kolkata-based graphics designer Rizwanur Rehman.

The State Human Rights Commission is dissatisfied with Commissioner of Police, Prasun Mukherjee's report on the case. They have noted discrepancies and are expected to make an announcement on the same soon.

Mukherjee had written a letter to the state government 'confirming' that Rizwanur Rehman had committed suicide.

Former chief minister Jyoti Basu came down heavily on Prasun Mukherjee for supporting police role in the death of Rizwanur.

Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya too has said strict action will be taken against all the people whose names have come up in the case.

The Judicial Commission set up by the state to probe the case will begin its hearing on November 1 and the state government will issue a public notification in this regard on Wednesday.

Meanwhile in the Calcutta High Court, the state government argued that a CBI probe cannot be initiated as there was no formal record of a complaint on the alleged police threats.

The court was hearing a petition filed by Rizwanur's family seeking a CBI inquiry.
