Bikaner: At least 10 people, including a TV journalist, were injured in a clash between BJP workers and the police in Bikaner.

The clash broke out on Saturday when a police party went to raid the house of a BJP councilor to search for another party councilor, who went missing from police custody.

When police went to search for Deepak Arora at the residence of Gopal Gehlot, the latter along with his party workers and family members resisted and indulged in brick-batting, police said.

The political situation in the BJP-dominated municipal council was tense since last week after a no-confidence motion moved against sitting Chairman Akhilesh Pratap Singh, and the abduction of a councilor Rajan Sharma by his party Councilor Deepak Arora, a senior police official said.

Meanwhile, Pradesh Congress Committee President B D Kalla demanded a judicial probe into Saturday’s incident of brutal lathicharge in which he said a number of scribes were hurt, according to a party spokesman.
