New Delhi: Police had to resort to lathicharge and fire tear gas shells to disperse thousands of volunteer teachers who were demanding regularisation of their services.
Over 40,000 teachers popularly called gurujis were on their way to meet the chief minister when the police tried to disperse them.
Gurujis, whose services are temporary in nature, are teaching in primary schools across Madhya Pradesh and are paid only Rs1000 per month.
