Cops look for murder weapon at Talwar's place

New Delhi: The Arushi Talwar-Hemraj murder case seems to be getting murkier by the day. It's been more than a month since the double murder was detected but the investigating agencies are still not clear about the killers and the motive.

On Monday morning, a large police contingent cordoned off the entire L Block complex of Noida's Sector 25, where the Talwar residence is located.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is combing the drains in the vicinity for the murder weapon, which has still not been located even more than a month after the murder. The investigating agency is also looking for Arushi and Hemraj's mobile phones, which have been missing since the murder.

The CBI is scheduled to do further tests on murdered teenager Arushi's parents Rajesh and Nupur Talwar on Monday as they found discrepancies in their statements.

The investigating agency has not divulged anything about the psychological assessment test done on Dr Rajesh Talwar on Saturday. However, CBI sources say there may be crucial arrests on Monday.

Dr Nupur Talwar, the mother Arushi, was put under three lie-detector tests. The CBI say the polygraph test on Nupur was necessary to nail discrepancies in the statements given by the Talwar couple.

Earlier on Saturday, a court remanded Krishna, the compounder of Rajesh, to CBI custody for three days in connection with the double murder.

The CBI had sought 14 days' custody of Krishna saying it was needed to recover the weapon used in the May 15 night murders, the missing mobile phones and blood stained clothes, in addition to the arrest of other accomplices on his tip off.

The CBI on had on Saturday cordoned off the Noida house of the Talwars and thoroughly checked the water tanks on the terrace and the water pipes to search for the missing weapon with Arushi and Talwar domestic help Hemraj were murdered a month ago.

Arushi, 14, was found dead in her Noida home on May 16. The UP Police immediately named Hemraj as their main suspect, but found his body on the terrace of the house the next day.

Dr Talwar Rajesh was arrested on May 23 as a prime suspect.

The UP Police had then claimed that Dr Rajesh murdered Arushi and Hemraj because they had come to know of his affair with a colleague.

The UP Police also claimed Rajesh murdered Arushi and Hemraj on the night of June 15 because he found them in an “objectionable position.”

The probe was handed over to the CBI after the UP Police were accused of making blunders and slandering Arushi with irresponsible statements.
