New Delhi: The Punjab police has moved the Bhatinda court for an arrest warrant against Dera Sacha Sauda chief Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.
The move is in connection with an FIR filed against the Dera chief for hurting religious sentiments of Sikhs.
Last month, the Dera had issued an advertisement in newspapers showing its chief in robes similar to those worn by Guru Gobind Singh.
This led to allegations that the Dera chief was imitating the last Sikh guru, following which there were clashes between Sikhs and Dera followers in Punjab and other northern states.
The Dera chief had issued an apology as things threatened to go out hand. Action against Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was one of the demands made by the Sikhs.
