SAMBALPUR: A hardcore woman Maoist cadre Rebati Naik was arrested by Sambalpur police on Friday. She was on way to her village along with a youth when cops nabbed her.
Rebati belongs to Narsinghtaila, a hamlet in Sanpali village under Riamal police limits of Deogarh district. She was produced in the Court of SDJM on Saturday and remanded in judicial custody.
Rebati is married to another hardcore Maoist Bimba Bhoi of Tampersingha village under Jujumura police limits in the district.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the couple had deserted the banned outfit in 2007 and had settled in Binka area of Sonepur. However, she was also deserted by her husband.
While Rebati has 18 non-bailable warrants (NBWs) against her both in Sambalpur and Deogarh districts, Bimba has more than 30 NBWs against him.
She had been inducted into the outfit by Maoist leader Sulochana Garnaik in 2003.
Trained in handling arms, Rebati is believed to have been involved in all the Maoist violence in the area from 2003 to 2007.
