Mumbai: Just two days after a bomb went off outside a theatre in Thane, the play that was being staged then is itself under the scanner.
On Wednesday a crude bomb exploded outside the Gadkari Auditorium in Thane. The blast took place in the parking lot and left five people injured.
The play being shown was Amhi Panchpute- a satire that has found itself in trouble before.
The Thane police are investigating the blast, and feel that there's something in the play that prompted the attack.
However, police officials rule out the involvement of any terrorist group. So what was the reason behind the attack - was it the play itself, or some personal enmity with the producer?
The producer himself says he has no idea.
Our play has nothing in it that can be objected to. It is a satire, a comedy. It is about two families and is a family drama and the comedy in it," said producer Santosh Kanekar.
The police, though, have called the makers of the play in for questioning and asked if they've received any objections from Hindu bodies.
Commissioner of Police, Thane, Anil P Dhere ruled out any terrorist link.
"It was a low-intensity blast. We feel it is some enmity or something like that. It is not any terrorist activity," Dhere said
"They asked us if we had received any communication from any Hindu group," Kanekar said about police questioning.
The play, earlier called Yadakadachit, had references to characters from the Mahabharat and had received objections from Hindu bodies.
After a High Court order allowing to be screened, the writers had reworked the play, and removed mythological references.
The police meanwhile, have formed a special team to investigate the team and the CCTV recordings from the auditorium are being examined for clues.
