Mumbai: While fan following is an essential part and parcel of being a star, Sonu Niigam recently had to undergo quite a scare with one of his admirers. A female fan of the singer had camped outside his residential building for five days in a row, and refused to leave even after much persuasion.
The singer and his wife had no choice but to contact the police to help resolve the situation. HitList learnt that since last weekend, a lady had been coming to the complex where Sonu stays, saying she had been invited by him for a meeting.
"On the last five days when she came, Sonu was not around. But when he learnt about her on Thursday, he decided to meet her. However, after talking to her for a while, when he bid her goodbye, she just refused to leave," says our source, close to the Niigams, who confirmed that the lady refused to leave even at the end of the day.

Incidentally, a few months ago, another fan from Kolkata accompanied by her mother had come to visit Sonu.
That's apparently when the security guards called Sonu on the intercom to apprise him of the situation. "That's when Madhurima decided to call the police for help," recalls our informer, adding that the cops managed to convince the fan to leave after some discussion. "Had it not been for the timely help from the cops, we don't know how we would have got the girl to leave," sighs our informer.
Incidentally, a few months ago, another fan from Kolkata accompanied by her mother had come to visit Sonu, claiming that the singer had invited them over to his house. Even back then, the singer had trouble asking them to leave.
