California: The FBI will now assist in the murder probe of a Sikh man in the US. Surinder Singh was killed by unidentified assailants at Sacramento in the US.

The troubled Sikh community has offered a reward of $30,000 for information on the killers.

And the community leaders have formed a united front.

"This act of insanity no way reflects United States," said community leader Bhajan Singh Bhindar.

Following Surinder Singh's death and critical injury to his friend, the community leaders have announced reward of $30,000 for providing information about the attack on the Sikh duo.

"They were my neighbours. It saddens me," said Elk Grove Mayor Steve Detrick.

However, the police said, "Hate crime because of beards".

"Sikh Americans face the brunt since 9/11," said Sikh temple member Amar Shergill.

"He is with God. I want justice," said the victim's daughter Navi Kaur.
