New Delhi: It's Bollywood's latest brush with the wrong side of the law. The Gurgaon administration has issued a show cause notice to Bollywood actress Soha Ali Khan for possessing a rifle at 18 years of age — three years before the eligible age.
And that's not all. An RTI application filed by environmentalist Naresh Kadyan revealed that a licensed rifle was renewed in 2005, the same year it was siezed in a black buck poaching case involving her father Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.
Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner, Naresh Gupta says, "We have issued a show cause notice as to why her licence should not be cancelled. She was not eligible to hold a licence of the weapon at the age of 18. The correct age of eligibility for possessing a weapon licence is 21 years."
A report of the SP of Jhajjar will now address the other unanswered questions — like why the SDM of Gurgaon renewed the license of a gun that was still in possession of the Jhajjar Police.
District authorities say their next course of action depends on Soha's response, for which she's been given two weeks time.
But misplacement of the file that had her original application for the license might just complicate matters.
Naresh Gupta says, "The file is missing and we are still trying to collate information."
District authorities are awaiting the SP's report, which is expected in the next two days, following which the commissioner will file an FIR.
