The showdown took place in Chitrakoot district on Tuesday. CNN-IBN has the visuals (watch video) showing the criminals being chased by the police and the firing that followed.
The constable who died has been identified as Shameem of the Special Operation Group of the Uttar Pradesh Police.
The gangsters belonged to the Ghanshyam Kewat gang which is notorious in the Bundelkand region of UP.
Police had cordoned off Rajapur village, after getting information about the gang's hideout.
