Mumbai: It was a night full of revelry and celebrations as thousands of devotees prepared for and performed the early morning chhath pooja at the Juhu chowpatty.

But the crowds left behind an unholy mess in their wake. And to clean it up, an army of corporates descended onto the beach.

“This place was filled with plastic trash when we came in the morning. We wondered if we were up to the task,” said Director of Corporate Affairs, Citi India, Madhulika Gupta.

They came, they saw and they swept. The executives for once slipped out of their business suits and donned some cleaning gear, complete with large brooms and rakes.

Bit by bit, a cleaner beach emerged.

“We have managed to clean up all of this area,” said CEO, Citi India, Sanjay Nair.
