Saharsa: There is a special story which is warming many hearts in flood hit Bihar. Though thousands have lost their homes and possessions to the water, a young couple has decided to join hearts and get married in a relief camp.
The baraat was not taken from one home to another but from one flood relief camp to another. Both the bride and groom have no other place to stay other than these flood relief camps. Their families have lost their homes to the recent Kosi floods.
“I liked her. She is educated, can read and write so I got married to her,” says the groom Rajiv.
The marriage was unique in more ways than one. About 5000 people from the bride's relief camp took part in the wedding celebrations and thousands from the grooms' camp were part of the baraat. Everyone got together like a family.
After two months of hardship and misery these people finally got something to celebrate. The entire marriage expenses are sponsored by the local administration.
So, it was not only a happy day for the bride and the groom and their families but also for thousands of flood-affected people who found an occasion to sing and dance their sorrows away.
