New Delhi: The prosecution in Jessica Lall murder case on Tuesday said the Delhi Police did not play before the trial judge a videocassette in prime accused Manu Sharma confesses to killing the model.
The Delhi High Court asked whether Manu had made any disclosure to which Delhi Police lawyer Mukta Gupta said his statement was recorded twice.
"Police had first recorded Manu's statement in writting and second time the statement was video recorded. The cassette was also made as an evidence by the prosecution during the trial," police said.
The cassette was not played before the trial court because of poor audio quality but a transcribed version was presented to the bench later.
The police lawyer said the statement of witnesses --Bina Ramani, her husband George Mailhot and daughter Malini, besides Deepak Bhojwani -- had corroborated the evidence beyond reasonable doubt against the accused Manu Sharma for killing Jessica.
Manu, son of Haryana politician Venod Sharma, allegedly shot dead Lall in a Delhi restaurant on April 30, 1999.
