THIRUVANANMALAI: Former DMK MLA of Arni, R Sivanandam, and his two sons, Lokesh and Babu, wanted in a land grab case here, surrendered before the Arni court on Friday.

Following a HC decision to grant bail to the trio, the Arni court ordered them to deposit Rs 7 lakh by signing at the police station.

Thulasirama Bagavathar of Arni had lodged a complaint with the Tiruvannamalai Superintendent of Police last month that Sivanandam had purchased his 5,800sq ft land in Arni by promising to pay Rs 11 lakh. But, he paid only Rs 4.2 lakh and even while the balance amount was due, he registered the land in name of his second son.

The surrender created a flutter among partymen.
