KOZHIKODE: CPM Kozhikode district secretary T P Ramakrishnan has proceeded on leave for a China tour. According to a statement issued by the CPM district secretariat here on Monday, Ramakrishnan has been granted leave from May 12 to 22, following a request from him submitted three months ago.
Former mayor and district committee member M Bhaskaran has been given the charge of secretary in the absence of Ramakrishnan.
Meanwhile, Ramakrishnan’s China tour at a time when the party district leadership is going through a tough phase following the murder of Revolutionary Marxist Pary(RMP) leader T P Chandrasekharan has come in for sharp criticism from a section of the party leaders.
They are of the view that the visit is untimely and has put the party more on the defensive.
However, CPM district Secretariat has asked the public to ignore false news and campaigns launched by a section of the media against the CPM in connection with the China visit of the district secretary.
