THRISSUR: Thousands of volunteers, clad in red attires, marched to the vibrant beats of drums to mark the conclusion of the Thrissur district meet of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), here on Wednesday.
The volunteers, who had started converging on the city in the afternoon, camped on the outskirts before the rally kicked off at 3 pm.
It took about three hours for the red brigades to cover the entire city before convening at the Thekkinkad Maidan. Politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan inaugurated the concluding ceremony. The party State Committee member Baby John delivered the welcome speech while District Committee secretary AC Moideen presided over the function.
