Thane: In one of the largest raids on brothels in the city, the police has arrested 78 people on the charges of immoral trafficking.
Of the 78 arrested, 70 are girls picked up for prostitution and soliciting, and 8 men have been booked for abetting prostitution. The raid was conducted in residential buildings, chawls, and lodges located in the Dahisar and Kashimira suburbs of Thane.
The raid lasted for over 3 hours and it took over 60 policemen to round up all the 78 people. The arrested will be produced in the Thane metropolitian magistrate's court.
“We found that these activities operated from some residential areas, lodges and beer bars,” says Assistant Superintendent of police, Satyanarayan Chowdhary.
