CHENNAI: Cultivate a culture of creative dissatisfaction in your organisation and  also at the individual level. This will really help people to constantly improve their productivity and also that of the company, resulting in a  productivity culture, said K Ananth Krishnan, Chief Technology Officer, Tata Consultancy Services.

Delivering  the 29th  IIT- Madras and Employers Federation of Southern India (EFSI) Endowment lecture on the theme ‘Technology and Productivity’ on Tuesday, he pointed out that it was important for an organisation to constantly be innovative to stay ahead of the game.

He cited examples of almost extinct companies that were into the making of  photographic films and fixed lines phones because of the disruptive innovations like digital cameras and mobile phones.

Companies like Apple, with a risk appetite, had ridden the wave of innovation and have built a higher productivity curve, he said.

Krishnan pointed out the role of social networking sites in helping individuals build their social reputation among their peer group and also all the other levels.

The premise of his lecture revolved around how technology could be used to improve the productivity at the individual level and also at the organisational level. On the basic philosophy of productivity, he said, “Measurement of productivity is a very critical factor, even more important is how we analyse productivity, which  could be done in terms of time, group or on an aggregate dimension. And  tracking productivity will help one understand the progress made and identify the issues.â€
