Finch found guilty of ball tampering

Adelaide: Victoria batsman Aaron Finch has been found guilty of ball tampering during his state's domestic Sheffield Shield win over South Australia.

Finch was fined half of his match fee at a Cricket Australia code of behavior commission on Monday in Adelaide. Finch told the commissioner, Judge David Smith, he was "most likely responsible for the damage to the ball," Cricket Australia said in a statement.

Umpires penalized Victoria five runs and initially charged the entire Victorian team with ball tampering on Saturday. On Monday, the initial charge against the Victorian team was withdrawn.

The Victorian batsman was fined half of his match fee for his act.

The penalty runs didn't matter — Victoria needed just 81 runs for victory on Sunday, a target achieved in its second innings in 12 overs.
