Commentary (South Africa 2nd Innings)

So that's it from all of us here, do join us for the Boxing Day Test between the two teams in Durban. Until then, it's good bye and take care!

Kohli was adjudged the Man of the Match for his epic knocks in both the teams. He says he is very happy with his performance. Admits they all can be very proud of themselves. He rues the opportunity to score hundreds in both the innings but says he would take those scores any day. Adds they did not have much time to prepare so it took some time in the ODIs. Admits Pujara was brilliant for the team, calls him the new wall for the team.

MS Dhoni - Says he was happy with the performance of the team. He says playing ODI series before the Tests helped the team well. Adds they attacked a bit more in the middle overs but it's okay as he admits the bowlers will learn with time. It was a good game. Dhoni said that Zaheer was crucial for the team since he can lead well to youngsters and is very important to get him fit in time. He hopes Durban will be a very good exposure for the team and should be good learning curve for the team.

Graeme Smith - He is happy with the character and strength shown to stay in the game. He is delighted with the way Faf and AB played. Says it was a decision made on the field when they went for the draw ultimately. He congratulated India for playing well in the test. He said he is happy that they still have a chance to win the series which was their aim at the start of the day. Admits that the track was tough to bat on and forming partnerships was tough. He adds the match going to the last hour was great for the game. He admits Faf was under pressure before he came in. He says he is happy for the way Faf batted. He is happy for the way Philander played in all departments.

At the end a draw was a fair result as both the teams played too good to lose. The home side came out fighting in their final innings. Smith and Petersen started confidently. de Villiers and du Plessis then came together to add 205 runs to help them win but at the end the wicket of du Plessis meant it was a draw.

India began their second innings strongly with Vijay and Pujara playing cautiously. Pujara hit his 6th Test century. He along with Kohli who was out on 96 added 222 runs together to set up a chase of 458 runs for the home side. The Proteas missed the services of Morkel who got injured very early. The rest of them failed to restrict the visitors.

What a test match we've witnessed! Five days of gripping contest between the bat and the ball. India elected to bat and did well, thanks to a century from Kohli! South Africa replied well with Smith and Amla playing well before the middle order was blown away by the Indian seamers. Philander then lead them well back into match reducing the Indian lead to only 36 runs.

The players shake hands. It's a Draw. Both teams played for the draw after the dismissal of Faf du Plessis! South Africa were hampered by the absence of Morkel which prevented them to go for the win! Nevertheless the epic partnership between AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis helped South Africa into a position from where they could go on to win. But the wicket of du Plessis turned the game into a draw. Indians bowled well but without much luck. Shami bowled the best with figures of 3 for 107. Zaheer, Ishant and Ashwin toiled hard but did not get the results for it.
