BCCI declined Sachin request

New Delhi: Sachin Tendulkar's request to shift the 2012-13 Ranji Trophy semi-final between Mumbai and Services from New Delhi to Mumbai was rejected by the BCCI, a report claimed on Saturday.

According to an English newspaper, Tendulkar had requested the Indian board to relocate the crucial knock-out match from January 16-20 to his native Mumbai from the original venue of Services' home ground at Palam. However, the request was 'politely' declined, claimed the report. As per the Ranji Trophy rules, matches are played on a home and away basis and it was Services' turn to play a match at their home ground.

Tendulkar, who announced his retirement from one-day international cricket on December 23, scored a century during Mumbai's quarter-final success against Baroda. He will now turn out for his state team against Services.

A report on Saturday claimed that the Indian batsman had asked for the semi-final against Services to be switched from New Delhi to Mumbai.
