New Delhi: The BCCI is likely to shift Pakistan women’s World Cup matches out of Mumbai. According to CNN-IBN sources, Kolkata and Bangalore are being considered as alternative venues.
This is being mulled after protests against Pakistani players in Mumbai following the killing of two Indian soldiers at the Line of Control earlier this month. The Pakistani players featuring in the Hockey India League had to fly back on Wednesday due to the vehement protests from several political parties and their supporters in Mumbai.
However, the two-city concept is subject to visa approval for the Pakistani team. The Pakistani camp is optimistic that things will soon be back in order. There are fears that India could lose the tournament if the Pakistani team don’t get to feature in it.
BCCI is hopeful that it will be able sort out the trouble in time. The eight-team tournament will run from January 31-Febrauary 17.
