Chittagong: A match-winning innings (53 off 28 balls) by Mominul Haque helped Barisal Burners beat Khulna Royal Bengals by four wickets here on Wednesday.
Chasing a competitive target of 162, Burners were reduced to 108 for five inside 15 overs. But the two crucial 27-run partnerships for the sixth and seventh wicket that Haque strung with Farhad Hossain (12 off 9 balls) and Kabir Ali (12 not out off 8 balls) respectively saw the Burners through.
For Bengals, left-arm spinners Abdur Razzak and Shakib Al Hasan shared two wickts between them, while Andre Russell got a solo wicket.
Earlier, electing to bat first, Bengals lost first three wickets in the space of 11 runs were 38 for three inside five overs, with Herschelle Gibbs scoring 18 and Dwayne Smith and Shakib going without scoring.
But opener Shivnarine Chanderpaul shared a 44-run stand for the fourth-wicket with Nasir Hossain that laid the foundation of a challenging total. A blitzkrieg by Nazmul Hossain Milon (42 off 31 balls) propelled Bengals to 161.
