Mirpur: Mahmudullah played another captain's knock (56 off 38 balls) as Chittagong Kings defeated Sylhet Royals by seven wickets in their Bangladesh Premier League match here on Wednesday.
Chasing a 153-run target, Kings were given an early blow when Jahurul Islam was sent back by Sohail Tanvir without scoring. Nasir Jamshed and Jason Roy shared a 39-run stand for the second wicket before the former was dismissed by Peter Trego for 11. Roy made 30 off 22 before getting out to Brad Hogg with the score at 45. But Ziaur Rahman (48 off 32) and Mahmudullah made the required runs, by stringing a 109-run unbeaten stand in just 66 balls, to ensure another win for the Kings.
Earlier, wicketkeeper batsman Kamran Akmal scored a half century (54 off 41 balls) and shared a 83-run stand with skipper Trego (51 off 48 balls) as Royals managed 152/4 in their 20 overs.
Farhad Reza took two wickets with his medium-pace bowling, while allrounders Dwayne Bravo and Kevon Cooper shared a wicket each for the Kings. For the Royals, Tanvir started the proceedings on the right note, but he failed to get support from the other bowlers.
