Paceman Mohammad Sami was once again amongst the wickets, picking up two wickets for the Duronto.
Chittagong: Another inspired bowling performance by Mohammad Sami helped Duronto Rajshahi beat Chittagong Kings by nine runs in their Bangladesh Premier League match here on Saturday.
Chasing a moderate total of 127, Chittagong could only muster 117 runs in their 20 overs, courtesy match-turning spells from paceman Sami (2/16) and slow-left-armer Saqlain Sajib (3/22).
Though Nasir Jamshed and Jahurul Islam gave Chittagong a solid start, sharing 40 runs for the opening wicket, four wickets in the space 15 runs turned the game in Duronto's favour. Captain Mahmudullah and Shamsur Rahman tried to rescue the derailing innings of the home side by sharing 34-run for the fifth wicket, but the wicket of Mahmudullah turned out to be the final nail in the coffin.
Earlier, slow-left-arm orthodox Arafat Sunny and medium-pacer Kevin Cooper did an excellent job to restrict Duronto to just 126. While Arafat took three wickets for just 13 runs, Cooper got two wickets for 17 runs.
Despite losing the contest, Chittagong have same number of points (8) as Duronto and are leading them in the points table on better net run rate, which is +1.086 in comparison to Duronto's -0.239.
