Khulna: Brad Hodge and Sabbir Rahman's blitzkreig wasn't enough as Barisal Burners fell 7 runs short to give Rangpur Riders their second win in three games in the Bangladesh Premier league on Wednesday.
Chasing 175 to win, Hodge [58 off 38 balls] kept Barisal in the hunt even as they were reduced to 48 for 4 in the 9th over. The Australian then added 59 runs with Rahman [69 off 35 balls] to put the run-chase back on track but Abdur Razzak's spell of 4 for 33 ensured a narrow win for Rangpur in the last over.
Barisal needed 14 to win off the last over but got all out off the fourth ball when Razzak dismissed Sabbir.
Rangpur also owed the win to their opener Shamsur Rahman [66 off 40 balls]. He, along with Imrul Kayes [29 off 27 balls], got Rangpur off to a 70-run start after they opted to bat.
