Brad Haddin's Test career in doubt

Sydney: Australian wicket-keeper Brad Haddin may have played his last Test after withdrawing on Friday from the series against the West Indies for undisclosed family reasons.

Haddin shocked the team before the one-dayers in the Caribbean by returning home but the veteran had been expected to be available for the three-Test series that begins next month.

"Cricket Australia fully supports Brad's decision to remain in Australia and sends its best wishes to him and his family at this time," Cricket Australia general manager Pat Howard said.

Haddin has withdrawn from the series against the West Indies for undisclosed family reasons.

The 34-year-old had lost his one-day place to Matthew Wade, who is 10 years younger, but selector Rod Marsh had indicated Haddin remained first choice for the Tests.

However, his position for Australia's Tests against South Africa in November must now be in doubt with Wade expected to make his Test debut on April 7 in Barbados.

New South Wales wicket-keeper Peter Nevill, who replaced Haddin when he returned from the one-day series, will stay with the Australian squad for the remainder of the tour.
