Colombo: Nicola Carey joined the Australian squad for the ICC Women's World Twenty20 here as a replacement for Sarah Coyte who is unwell and has been deemed medically unfit to continue in the tournament.
The replacement was approved by the International Cricket Council (ICC) event technical committee on Friday.
Carey has never played a T20 international but has been a part of the domestic Shooting Stars squad for the past year.
