Trinidad and Tobago will have their work cut out when they face Chennai Super Kings in a crucial Champions League Twenty20 Group B tie here at the Feroze Shah Kotla stadium on Wednesday.
A win (by D/L method) against the Titans on Monday gave T&T's dwindling campaign a new lease of life, which means the outcome of Wednesday's match is vital to their hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals. A win here will place them second after CSK in Group B while a loss will have two ramifications.
If T&T lose by a big margin, it would end their stay in the tournament, with the Titans leapfrogging them to join CSK as the two semi-finalists from the group. As of now, both T&T and Titans have eight points each from two victories, but the Caribbean outfit has a better net run-rate (+0.407) as compared to the Titans (+0.228). That means in case of a loss, T&T will have to keep the margin of defeat small enough to not let their NRR fall below Titans'.
Trinidad and Tobago chased down the 119-run target with 29 balls to spare, leapfrogging CSK in the points table to get the top spot in Group B.
