Mumbai: Canada paceman Rizwan Cheema has received an official reprimand for dangerous bowling in the last over of Sunday's World Cup loss to New Zealand.
After receiving a caution in the 40th over for bowling a full-toss above waist height, Cheema was no-balled and ordered to immediately cease bowling for doing it again in the last over of New Zealand's innings.
Harvir Baidwan replaced him and delivered a wide to extend the over to eight deliveries, from which New Zealand amassed 31 runs to lift their total to 358 for six. It was one of the highest scoring overs ever in ODIs.
The Canada paceman bowled a full toss above waist height after getting a warning earlier.
International Cricket Council match referee Roshan Mahanama imposed the official reprimand, saying Cheema had acted "contrary to the spirit of the game."
