Mirpur: In an exciting encounter Sylhet Royals beat Duronto Rajshahi to register their second victory in a row in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). In response to Rajshahi's 147 for 8 Sylhet went past the score in the final over with four wickets in hand.
After winning the toss, Rajshahi chose to bat in a flat wicket of Sher-e-Bangla stadium and posted a respected 147 for 8 in their mandatory 20 overs. Jahurul Islam led the way for Rajshahi with a 50 off 38 balls. Unfortunately, no other batsmen could really support him and Rajshahi were forced stop before 150.
Elton Chigumbura of Zimbabwe played a crucial role for Royals as he picked up three important wickets for Royals and restricted the opposition to 147 only. Sohag Gazi chipped in with a couple of wickets and supported Chigumbura well. Most importantly, he god rid of Tamim Iqbal in the very first over which gave Royals a huge boost.
Chigumbura hit three sixes and four fours in his innings which took the game away from Rajshahi.
In reply, Sylhet Royals were in deep trouble. At one stage, they were 80 for 6 but after that Nazmul Hossain and Chigumbura joined each other in the middle. Chigumbura played a blistering knock of 43 off just 21 balls and Hossain played a very important knock of 33 off 22 balls. Chigumbura hit three sixes and four fours in his innings which took the game away from Rajshahi.
Naeem Islam junior and Taijul Islam bowled well for Rajshahi as both of them scalped two wickets each but their efforts went in vain. Chigumbura was rightly adjudged the man of the match.
