The Thunders will get an additional strength in their batting line up as they have signed up Australian skipper Michael in for their team in the Big Bash League.
"Playing for Sydney Thunder is a great opportunity for me to play for a team rooted in Sydney's western suburbs as well as to support Cricket Australia in building on last year's Big Bash success," Clarke said in a press release.
Clarke expressed his opinion on being asked about joining a team which already consists of the likes of Chris Gayle and Shahid Afridi, who had joined Thunders earlier this month. The 32-year old New South Wales batsman is considered to be fitting for the team as he had earlier played grade cricket for Western Suburbs.
Australian skipper Michael Clarke has signed up with Thunders to feature in this year's Big Bash League.
"I am really excited about playing a part in the Big Bash, particularly as it will be against the other Sydney team. Not only do I get to play alongside superstar T20 internationals like Chris Gayle and Shahid Afridi but also with a bunch of great young guys just starting to make their mark, many of whom grew up in the West." said Clarke
This will be Clarke's first outing at the Big Bash League since he opted out of the first edition of the tournament.
