Bravo, Tharanga ruled out with injury

Chennai Super Kings and Uva Next will be without Dwayne Bravo and Upul Tharanga respectively in the 2012 Champions Trophy Twenty20 starting October 13 in Johannesburg, after the pair picked up injuries.

Bravo, the West Indies allrounder who played a role in his team’s title triumph in the ICC World Twenty20 with 134 runs at a strike-rate of 118.58, picked up a thigh strain and has been replaced by Sri Lankan pace bowler Nuwan Kulasekara in CSK’s squad. The former CLT20 winners have also been hurt by a fracture to S Anirudha, sustained during the recent Challenger Trophy, which has ruled the Tamil Nadu batsman out for six weeks. Left-arm spinner Shadab Jakati has been named as Anirudha’s replacement.

Tharanga, the left-handed Sri Lankan opener, broke a finger and has been replaced by former Under-19 captain Ashan Priyanjan. Uva Next qualified for the CLT20 by winning the inaugural Sri Lanka Premier League.

Chennai Super Kings and Uva Next have been hit by injury concerns ahead of the lucrative Twenty20 tournament.
