Cricket Australia plans to reduce size

Melbourne: Cricket Australia is seeking support from state associations to reduce the size of its board of directors in what it bills as the most significant change in the sport's national governance in a century.

The board currently comprises 14 people, with the six states contributing from one to three members. CA is asking for feedback on proposed changes that could see the board initially reduced to six state-appointed directors and three independents. It said the new board could be in place by the annual meeting in October.

The move to a smaller board was among the recommendations of a report by sports governance experts David Crawford and Colin Carter presented to Cricket Australia last year.
