Hyderabad: With the prospect of an early exit looming large, Delhi Daredevils batsman Y Venugopal Rao on Wednesday said it's high time the Virender Sehwag-led side need to return to winning ways to stay in the race for the ongoing Indian Premier League title.
The Daredevils find itself in a lowly eighth position in the fourth edition of the Twenty20 tournament after having registered only three victories in the nine games they have played so far.
From here on, Daredevils cannot afford to lose a single game if they want to qualify for the play-offs.
"We need to improve our performance and we are trying hard. Let's see how it goes. The next five-six matches in the tournament are very important for us. We need to win and get into that winning mode," Rao told reporters on the sidelines
of a promotional event here.
Daredevils will take on a struggling Deccan Chargers, who are just a place above the Delhi outfit in the points table, in a do-or-die match here on Thursday.
"The winning momentum is very important for our team from now onwards," said Rao, who played for Deccan in the first three seasons of IPL.
Rao also said that he was enjoying playing under Sehwag's captaincy.
"Playing under Sehwag is nice because he always backs the players. He (Sehwag) is a amazing person," he said.
"I am happy to be back in Andhra Pradesh and looking forward to performing for Delhi Daredevils in front of my home crowd," said the right-hander Rao, who hails from the state.
